Good morning and welcome to the next month of my Crafty Christmas Collaboration series! If you missed my first Crafty Christmas Collaborations you can find them here and here! Basically the idea is that I know I need to start working on Christmas cards pretty early in the year in order to be ready with enough cards by late November…but I wanted to find a way to make it more interesting! 😉
Each month a crafty friend and I will send each other something to help make a Christmas card…it might be a watercolored panel, a few die-cut images, a few stamped images, embellishments, etc. At the same time we will use the same items to create our own card and we won’t share what we’ve created with each other until after the cards are finished. And don’t forget to check out the bottom of my post for details on how you can join in the fun and enter two giveaways! My March guest is the spectacularly talented Sharna Waksmulski!
I love Sharna’s bright and colorful creations and I am envious of her amazing copic and watercoloring skills! 🙂 If you don’t know her yet I highly encourage you to follow her on instagram!
This is what Sharna sent to me:
I love those adorable images from Lawn Fawn! And this is what I created:
I colored two of the cups with copics to resemble the holiday red cups from Starbucks and added a little shading to the lids and wraps. Then I die-cut a few stitched snowflakes and die-cut the patterned paper with the stitched hillside dies from Lawn Fawn. To assemble the card I adhered the patterned paper to the bottom of my card base and then stamped the sentiment with bright red ink to match the cups. Then I layered the cups over the die-cut snowflakes. Finally I finished the card by adding a few sequins from the mixes that Sharna sent me!
Sharna was so generous with the dies she sent me that I actually made another card and a tag that I’ll share later! 😉
And this is what I sent to Sharna:
And this is what I created with it:
I started by loosely watercoloring the bunnies and the gift box with Mission Gold watercolors before using my ScanNCut to die cut them. Then I die-cut a circle from masking paper and placed it over my background panel. I blended worn lipstick, faded jeans, and broken china distress ink oxides over the circle and then removed the mask. I flicked a little water onto the circle and then blotted it off. Next I adhered my bunnies to the background and then used foam mounting tape to adhered the sentiment. Finally I added a few sequins (some from the mix I sent to Sharna and some from the mixes she sent me!) 😉
Very different cards but for some reason they really seem to work together…ha, not sure how that worked out!
So lots of ways to get involved with the Crafty Christmas Collaboration…but first, head over to Sharna’s blog to check out the fabulous cards she created using both sets of items! Then check out the ways you can participate for the chance to win one of two giveaways below!
I wanted to find a way to include as many crafty friends as I could so I’m including a link-up that will last ALL year long! Please use my cards or any of my previous collaborator’s cards as your inspiration and link-up a holiday card! You can use the color schemes, layouts, specific stamps and dies, or techniques for your inspiration. Include the Crafty Christmas Collaboration badge at the top of this post in your post and link to the month you’re using for inspiration for a chance to be included in the big Christmas giveaway. After the final post on December 25th, 2017 one lucky entry will win a $100 gift card to the crafty store of their choice! To make it a little easier to play along you can head here to find all the previous posts and the link-up!
And each month I’ll have a smaller giveaway featuring one of the companies I used on that month’s card. This month I’m giving away a $25 gift card to Lawn Fawn to one lucky commenter! Please leave a comment on both my blog and Sharna’s blog for a chance to win! I’d love to know your thoughts on this series! Please leave your comment before 11:59 PM EST on April 24th, 2017 and the winner will be announced during April’s collaboration!
Finally, last month’s winner of the $25 gift card to Neat and Tangled is:
Ann, please send me an email via the contact button in the menu above and I’ll get that out to you ASAP!
