Thanks SO much for all the kind feedback on my card video yesterday! I greatly appreciate your comments and suggestions!
Good morning! Like many of you, I’ve been eagerly anticipating all of the new stamps and products that were previewed at CHA in early January. However, when I saw the Dawn Woleslagle’s sneaks of these birds last week I immediately forgot all of those other stamps that I had been so excited about. The Happy Birds stamp set from WPlus9 is SOOO adorable and I couldn’t resist spending my afternoon playing with them!
I decided to color them based off of the birds I regularly see in my backyard so there are cardinals, robins, bluebirds, and rose-breasted grosbeaks! Seriously…I LOVE this stamp set! I actually made an additional four cards with different designs that I’ll share later…I just couldn’t stop!! 😉
I stamped the birds on Arches cold press 140lb watercolor paper with versafine ink and heat-embossed them with clear powder. I colored them with zig clean color real brush markers and a medium aquash waterbrush and then cut them out with my Scan N Cut! I colored 30 of these birds so I had quite a stash to play with!
I’m entering my first card into the CASology Challenge #184: Valentine!
I used the Lawn Fawn Stitched Borders embossing die to offset emboss the edges of a piece of kraft cardstock. I stamped the sentiment from WPlus9’s That Is All stamp set in versafine and embossed it with clear powder. I added my cardinal and popped him up on the card front with foam mounting tape! Clean and simple and CUTE! 🙂
I knew I wanted to use that quirky bird with a french fry sentiment so I decided to create a french fry with gold glitter paper for my bird! I smooshed distress inks on a scrap piece of acetate to create my background on watercolor paper.
Once it was dry I added my rose-breasted grosbeak. I fussy cut the french fry from glitter paper and popped it up with foam mounting tape. I took one of the birds that hadn’t stamped cleanly and cut out his beak. I colored the beak and adhered it over the french fry so it would look like the bird was holding the french fry in his mouth. To finish the card I stamped the sentiment, trimmed the watercolor panel down on the sides, and mounted it to a blue cardstock base.
My last card is probably my favorite…it’s definitely the busiest! 😉
I love the modern artsy look of the birds and all of the accessory stamps in the set. I decided to use the long dashed/solid line stamp and Coconut Husk ink from WPlus9 to create a branch for my flock of birds to perch on. I stamped the clouds with Lake House and Bo Peep ink and stamped the hearts with Sweet Gelato ink. The sentiment is from the That is All stamp set and I masked off the ‘d’ in the large word ‘loved’ to create my sentiment. Then it was time to add my birds!!
I adhered some of the birds with my ATG gun and some with foam mounting tape for a little dimension and that’s it! Seriously though, if you like cute critters I can’t recommend this set enough! It’s so much fun to color!
Thanks so much for visiting and have a wonderful day!
