Good morning! I am so excited to help celebrate the June 2018 release from Heffy Doodle Stamps! I have two cards to share using some of the new release products!
Remember this smooshed watercolor background I made a few weeks ago? Well at the same time I made a few more because I really loved the color combination. To create this one I actually used a second generation smooshing of the three distress ink colors: blueprint sketch, twisted citron, and salty ocean which is why the colors are SO much lighter. My other card created a great grass and sky scene…and this one is perfect for an underwater scene! 🙂 After smooshing the inks and letting them dry I splattered the panel with water and blotted off the excess to create bubbles across the panel. I trimmed it down to 4″ by 5.25″ and adhered it to a black card base.
Next I stamped the adorable jellyfish from Oceans of Love onto watercolor paper with versafine and heat-embossed them with clear embossing powder. I watercolored them with Mijello Mission Gold watercolors and then let them dry. Once they were dry I added spectrum noir clear sparkle to the top of each jellyfish and then a layer of nuvo crystal glaze. Once that was totally dry I added a few accents with a white gel pen. Then I stamped the large sentiment word on black cardstock and heat-embossed it with white embossing powder before die-cutting it with the coordinating dies. I added a layer of spectrum noir clear sparkle to the word and then set it aside while I assembled the card. First I stamped the rest of the sentiment and the bubbles onto the watercolor panel with versafine and heat-embossed it with clear embossing powder. I added spectrum noir clear sparkle to the bubbles and a layer of nuvo crystal glaze. I adhered the jellyfish and the word die with foam mounting tape. To finish the card I added a swirl of iridescent clear sequins!
My second card features the fabulous parrot from Wingman! I started by stamping him and his perch onto watercolor paper with versafine and heat-embossed them with clear embossing powder. I watercolored them with Mijello Mission Gold watercolors. To get a bright vibrant color I used a lot of pigment and very little water. I die-cut them with the coordinating dies and added a little spectrum noir clear sparkle to the parrot before adding white gel pen accents to the bird and perch. While I was stamping I also cut apart one of the sentiments from Wingman to stamp the word ‘bird’ onto white cardstock with versafine and heat-emboss it with clear embossing powder. I trimmed it down to a tiny label and set it aside while I worked on the rest of the card.
To create the background I started by blending candied apple, squeezed lemonade, lucky clover, and blueprint sketch distress ink diagonally on a piece of watercolor paper. I spritzed it with water and blotted off the excess drops. Then I laid the Unbeleafable stencil over the watercolor panel and spritzed it with a water bottle. I pressed a paper towel over the stencil to soak up the excess water and create that subtle pattern! Next I stamped the sentiment from Big Bold Words onto the watercolor panel with versafine and heat-embossed it with clear embossing powder. Finally I adhered the perch with regular adhesive and the bird and bird word with foam mounting tape for a little extra dimension!
