Good afternoon! I’m really excited to share a very special post with you this afternoon! About a year ago I was just starting to post my cards on social media, specifically instagram. I had around 180 followers and most of the ‘likes’ on my photos were from family and non-crafty friends (and students!). At that time I thought I’d never really be able to connect with crafty people via instagram and couldn’t even imagine having 500 followers, let alone 2000! So a few weeks ago as I was approaching 2000 followers I knew I wanted to do a little something special to thank all of you for your crafty friendship and support over the last year or so! It is unbelievable to think of the people I’ve met through my blog, facebook, and instagram who I’m so lucky to call friends now! I’m loving this journey into crafting but even more, I’m loving the connections I’ve made with so many wonderful people! You guys are amazing and I’m so SO thankful that you take time out of your day to read my ramblings and look at my creations!
But enough with the mushy stuff! I decided to ask several crafty friends to help me celebrate reaching 2000 followers with an instagram hop! However I know that not all of my readers use instagram so I wanted to share my card here with you, too! And what’s a hop without prizes?! You can find those details at the end of this post! 😉
I thought it would be fun to pick an optional inspiration palette for the hop and I wanted to use the colors in a unexpected way. So here’s the palette I chose:
And here’s what I came up with!
I adore this new Lovable Legends stamp set from Lawn Fawn and immediately thought of using that cream color in the palette for my Nessie…the rest just kinda evolved from there!
I started by blending Spun Sugar, Worn Lipstick, and Picked Raspberry distress inks onto a piece of white cardstock. Then I sprayed it liberally with sparkle shimmer spray. While it was drying I worked on the rest of my card. I die-cut the waves, hills, grass, and flowers with Lawn Fawn dies and added wink of stella to the flowers. Next I stamped Nessie with Memento tuxedo black ink and colored her with copic markers. I also colored her with wink of stella for a little magical sparkle! 😉
Once the background was dry I used the Sophisticated Script stamp set from Concord and 9th to stamp the word ‘unforgettable’ with Versafine onyx black ink and heat-embossed it with clear powder. I also added the word ‘you’re’ from the Lovable Legends set. Finally I used a mix of regular ATG adhesive and foam mounting tape to assemble my card and add some interesting dimension! And that’s my interpretation of Nessie at sunrise in a springtime Scottish loch! 😉
So here’s the fun part! Most of the ladies are blogging their cards as well so if you don’t use instagram you can still see most of the cards on the hop by visiting the blogs listed below! Since the focus was on an instagram hop you won’t find links to everyone’s blog on each post but you can come back here to get from blog to blog!
And of course, there are prizes! You’ll have to get onto instagram for the big prizes but I wanted to do a separate giveaway here as well! You’re welcome to enter in both places! I’ve got a crafty package of stamps, dies, and sequin strands from Concord & 9th for one lucky commenter! So to enter, comment on each blog and I’ll pick one random winner from all the blog comments! So the more comments you leave, the more chances you have to win! You have until 11:59PM EST on Wednesday, March 2nd to comment and I’ll announce a winner on March 3rd!
Finally, I really REALLY love that inspiration palette…and I hope you do too! So I thought it might be fun to invite you all to play along and join in the fun! You can use any or all of the colors in the inspiration palette for your creations and one random entry will win a $15 gift certificate to Butterfly Reflections Ink! You can link up until 11:59PM EST on Wednesday, March 2nd! If you share the project you create on your blog, I’d appreciate if you’d please link back to this post! I can’t wait to see what you will create! (Please NO back-linking!)
