Good morning!! It’s time for a new Lawn Fawnatics challenge and we’re challenging you to incorporate fun folds into your creations!! There are lots of different ways to interpret this challenge and I’m looking forward to seeing how you interpret it!
For this challenge I broke out some stamp sets I’ve owned for awhile but never used! So I was kinda ridiculously obsessed with the X-Files when I was a pre-teen/teen. And I watched every week with my mom…so I thought this would be a cheeky birthday card to create for an upcoming milestone birthday! 😉
I started by creating a galaxy background with distress ink smooshing! I started by smooshing wilted violet, blueprint sketch, chipped sapphire, mustard seed, hickory smoke, and peacock feathers distress ink onto a piece of acetate, spritzed it with water, and smooshed it onto a piece of watercolor paper. I repeated the process a few times until color completely covered the watercolor paper. Then I wiped the acetate clean and smooshed black soot distress ink onto the acetate. I spritzed it with water and then smooshed it over the watercolor paper until it mostly covered the colors with just hints of color peeking through. I splattered it with water, blotted off the excess, and then let it dry. Once it was totally dry I splattered the panel with white acrylic paint, gold spray, and silver spray. It looks like a hot mess at various stages throughout the process but once it’s totally finished it could totally pass for a galaxy! 😉
Next I stamped the images from Beam Me Up and Out Of This World with intense black ink and colored them with copics before die-cutting them with the coordinating dies. I stamped the UFO’s beam on vellum and heat-embossed it with glow in the dark embossing powder. I also added accents with a white gel pen, glow in the dark nuvo drops, spectrum noir clear sparkle, and nuvo crystal glaze!
I die-cut the galaxy panel with the PeekABoo Backdrop and created several scenes. I added stars with a white gel pen and added silver metallic mini and regular sized stars across the panel. Then I stamped ‘the truth is out there’ using Milo’s ABCs on acetate and heat-embossed it with silver embossing powder. I created a shaker panel in the top right corner and filled it with silver stars. I added the alien in his glow in the dark UFO to the top left and let him beam up a cake! On the bottom right I used copics to draw the surface of the moon and tucked it inside my panel before adding the planet and alien. Finally in the bottom left corner I created a secret birthday message for my mom’s 65th birthday! After all, the truth is out there…you just have to know where to look! 😉
And now it’s your turn! I can’t wait to see your fun folds! You can link up your entries on the Lawn Fawnatics blog! Thanks so much for visiting and have an amazing day!
