Good morning friends!! It’s here…the greatest stamping time of the year: Simon Says Stamp’s STAMPtember!! Hooray!! I am so honored and excited to be part of the Simon Says Stamp family and I look forward to sharing the festivities with you all month long! AND I decided to set a personal goal this year…I plan to have a video tutorial and project on my blog everyday ALL month long! So…30 videos filled with STAMPtember goodness! I’ll be sharing projects using the new STAMPtember release as well as the exclusive STAMPtember collaborations! Today we’re kicking things off and I’ve created a card using the GORGEOUS Beautiful Flowers 2 with alcohol inks and foiling!
You can watch the video below or at my YouTube channel here.
To start I squirted alcohol blending solution on a piece of yupo paper. Then I alternated dropping watermelon, flamingo, wild plum, and purple twilight alcohol ink over the blending solution. I used an air puffer to blend and move the ink around. Once the panel was totally covered and mostly dry I pressed a foil sheet over the alcohol ink. The foil adheres to the sticky wet areas of alcohol ink leaving a subtle metallic sparkle. I repeated the process until I was happy with the foil coverage.
Next I placed the alcohol-inked panel in my MISTI and the gorgeous floral arrangement from Beautiful Flowers 2 onto the lid of my MISTI. I inked the stamp with Tim Holtz’s Alcohol Lift Ink pad and stamped it on the panel. The stamp “lifts” the ink off the panel leaving behind a paler, shadow-like image. Then I removed the panel, replaced it with a piece of white cardstock, and stamped it again to transfer the ink from the stamp to the white cardstock for a future card! 😉
Finally I played off the metallic sparkle from the foil and die-cut the sentiment with gold glitter cardstock. Then I die-cut the shadow from white cardstock and adhered them together. I trimmed the panel down and adhered it to a white card base before adding the sentiment. Simple but striking! 🙂
Thanks so much for visiting today! Happy STAMPtember and I’ll see you tomorrow with another card! 😉 Have a fabulous holiday weekend!
Of course I’m going to kick off STAMPtember with a giveaway! Would you like to win one item from the new STAMPtember release? If so, comment and let me know what you’d like to win and I’ll choose a winner on September 8th to win that item! Good luck!

You introduced me to foil and alcohol ink. It is my favorite technique. Even better with the Alcohol Lift ink! My first favorite from the Stamptember release is the Hipster gingerbread man. I know exactly who will have them on their tags for Christmas.

There are so many cool things in this release, it’s hard to choose what I’d want to win… I love the large picture book dies, especially the kitty. And I love the Beautiful Flowers 2 stamp set. Also I really like the kitty stamp set… not sure what it’s called… Your card is fabulous, by the way!

What a smart thing to restamp the ink onto white cardstock to use in the future to get more use from your ink. Your card is beautiful! The sequins and stencils are awesome, but my absolute favorite from the Stamptember release is the Beautiful Flowers 2 stamp set. Flowers are so versatile, and I love the extra sentiments in this set. Thanks!

this is absolutely stunning. I’ve never seen that Alcohol Lift ink being used so thank you for the tutorial. There’s so many lovely things from the new Stamptember release but I think the one I’d use the most is the Plank background. i can see that for those hard-to-make teen cards!
