Studio Katia: Fresh Bunch STAMPtember Day 21 (+VIDEO!)

I’ve gotten a few requests recently for a zig video and thought this set would be the perfect opportunity to dig them out! 😉

To start I stamped the floral arrangement onto canson montval watercolor paper with versafine and heat-embossed it with clear embossing powder.  Then I watercolored it using zig markers and a damp paintbrush. The zigs move really nicely on the canson montval paper and allow for lots of blending without the paper pilling up. I don’t really have much of a technique for zigs beyond laying down a line of color on the darkest part of the image and then using a damp paintbrush to blend the color out to the lighter areas.  In general I was looking for a bright autumnal feel!  I colored all three arrangements and then added a wash of warm grey behind the images by outlining the arrangements with my marker and using a damp paintbrush to pull and fade the color out.

Once the panel was dry I masked off the images with post-it notes before flicking the panel with black paint.  Next I stamped the sentiment from Fresh Bunch onto a square of white cardstock with versafine and heat-embossed it with clear embossing powder. Then I matted the square to a black cardstock square and adhered it to the watercolored panel with foam mounting tape.  Finally to finish the card I added a few ebony jewels!
