Good morning! Today I’m thrilled to be joining Tracey McNeely for her 25 Days of Christmas Tags event and I’m excited to represent Lawn Fawn as one of the designers for the Lawn Fawnatics challenge team!
And here’s my tag:
It’s a little unconventional for a gift tag but I thought it would be fun to create a gift tag that could be used as an Christmas tree ornament, too! I found the plastic balls on Amazon and decided to use half a ball to create a tag with a flat back. I started by stamping the alpaca from Winter Alpaca with copic-friendly ink and then colored him with copics before cutting him out with the coordinating dies. While I was die-cutting I also cut a snowy hill from white cardstock. Then I blended salty ocean and wilted violet distress ink onto a piece of white cardstock and splattered it with water. I also added splatters of white acrylic paint to create the look of a snowy winter sky. Once the ink was totally dry I stamped the sentiment from Winter Alpaca with versamark and heat-embossed it with white embossing powder. Next I used a circle die to die cut the distress inked panel into a circle just slightly larger than the plastic ball.
I adhered the alpaca and the snowy hill and then trimmed the excess off of the tag. I die-cut a bunch of the Mini Snowflakes from white cardstock and then piled them into the middle of the tag. I carefully sprinkled fake sparkly snow, chunky and fine glitter, and buffalo snow into the middle of the tag and then applied a very thin line of liquid adhesive around the edge of the tag. I carefully pressed the plastic ball into the glue and held it there until I was sure it had a good seal. Then I placed an acrylic block over the top of the ball to weigh it down until the glue was totally dry. I let it dry overnight before giving the tag a good shake to mix up all the snowy bits. Finally I adhered another die-cut circle to the back of the tag to make it a little sturdier and finished it with a little twine to the top of the tag.
