Welcome back to the 5 for 5 Easter Blog Hop! Each day our five designers will post an Easter project based on that day’s theme. Today’s theme is baskets! Some of us are offering prizes (including me!), so make sure to hop to each designer and leave comments!
Here are the links for the other designers! Giveaway info is at the bottom of my post!
I took a slightly different approach to baskets (but I’ll justify my decision, I promise!)…here’s my card:
Well, Easter baskets hold eggs…and they’re brown…and nest-shaped…right? Right?
Ha, I realized early on that I didn’t have any basket stamps except for my Lawn Fawn set and I didn’t want to use that again…I needed to make a basket. I started off by weaving a basket pattern with strips of paper but I didn’t really like the way it turned out. Then I got the idea to make my basket a nest so I stamped a woodgrain stamp on kraft cardstock and then cut it into small strips. I cut a piece of scrap paper into a nest shape to give me a guide to follow. Then I tore the ends of each strip and glued it to the guide with multi medium matte. Once I was happy with the way it looked I put it aside and let it dry.
Then I drew an egg shape onto another piece of cardstock and used it as a template to cut eggs from glitter paper. I cut the branch from a piece of dark brown cardstock and glued it to the piece of Lawn Fawn patterned paper. Then I placed the nest where I wanted it but adhered it with a removable glue dot so I could easily move it around as I tucked the eggs in. Once all the eggs were placed I permanently glued the nest. Next I used my MISTI to stamp the sentiment with Versafine Onyx Black ink and added the frame cut from a die from the Mama Elephant Basic set. So that’s it…my interpretation of an Easter basket! 🙂
GIVEAWAY:
At the end of the hop I will be selecting one random commenter to win a fun spring-themed package full of fun stamping goodies! Every comment will earn you a chance to win so make sure and stop by everyday! This giveaway is open to US and international commenters!
