Good morning! I’m back with another card using the August kit from Simon Says Stamp! I put away the colored pencils and switched to watercolors today!
One of the things I struggle with most is organically leaving white space when I use watercolors. Generally I end up “cheating” by adding accents with a white gel pen afterwards but today I really pushed myself to try adding white space as I watercolored. I started by stamping the bouquet with versafine and heat-embossing it with clear embossing powder. Then I watercolored it with my Mijello Mission Gold watercolors. I worked one petal at a time and started by wetting one petal with a damp paintbrush. Then I added a drop of paint to the shaded area of each petal and blended it out by dragging a clean, damp paintbrush from the wet area to the colored area. I used darker shades towards the center of the flower and lighter shades on the outer petals.
While that was drying I die-cut a stitched circle using one of the patterned papers included in the kit and adhered it over a 4″ by 5.25″ piece of patterned paper. I adhered that to a white card base . Then I stamped the sentiment onto vellum and heat-embossed it with white embossing powder. I trimmed it down to a fishtail banner and adhered it behind the bouquet. I adhered the bouquet with foam mounting tape and finished the card with a few nuvo drops!
And that’s it! Remember, you can subscribe to their no-obligation kits and receive them monthly for $29.99, or purchase them each month for $34.99 (while supplies last). I have a feeling this pretty kit is going to sell out VERY quickly so if you’re interested I’d recommend heading over and picking up the Simon Says Stamp August kit as soon as possible! 😉 Thanks so much for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

Gorgeous…. as usual!! I’m struggling finding a very fine paint brush for using water with my Zigs. I checked the supplies you listed but the brushes you used weren’t listed. Please could you recommend the paintbrushes you use, especially a very fine one? Thanks xxx

Stunningly pretty card, love the vellum panel. The entire card is very pretty like how you layered it up. If you feel you struggle with white space when using watercolour you’ve done a terrific job here.x
