Over the weekend I shared this clean and simple watercolored card:
And today I’m getting a little more involved and adding in a fun light-up feature to my card using Chibitronics LED stickers!
When Chinese Lantern plants go to seed the shell turns into this really delicate cage and the large red seed inside is visible as shown here:
I thought it would be interesting to actually turn that little seed into a “lantern” and light up my card using Chibitronics! So to start I stamped the branches from the kit onto black cardstock with versamark and heat-embossed them with gold glitter embossing powder. Then I stamped the pods onto vellum with versamark, heat-embossed them with the same embossing powder, and die-cut them with the coordinating dies.
Next I created two circuits using Chibitronics LED stickers and twinkling effects stickers. Here’s a view of the circuit in action before I sealed up the card! You can find a more detailed tutorial for using these effects stickers here.
Once my circuits were finished I punched a tiny hole over the position of each light on my gold heat-embossed panel. I used a double layer of foam mounting tape to adhere the panel over the circuits. Then I used vellum adhesive to adhere the vellum pods onto the card. I stamped the sentiment from the kit on dark red cardstock and heat-embossed it with gold embossing powder. I trimmed it down to a label and adhered it to the card with foam mounting tape. Finally I added a few metallic gold sequins for a little more sparkle!

Even without the lights, those are amazing. Really delicate and lacy!!
What an interesting plant, I really like your use of Chibi lights!
Wow! Amazing cards! Love, love the fall themed kit…

Amazing card! I love the lights!
Such beautiful cards…I especially loved the one you did in gold….It was great with the lights…but it would also be a stand out on it’s own….gorgeous….thank you so much for sharing….big hugs…
Beautiful kit and oh what a wonderful card idea, thanks for coming up with this spectacular kit!
Love the card you already showed & what a creative/striking card with the lights!
Beautiful card and super idea with the lighted feature. Thanks for sharing.
Your card is beautiful, Jessica. I really like this kit!
Oh my goodness, putting lights behind that card just ramps it up, although I must say I think it’s elegant on its own. It almost eclipses the first card you made which is so very appealing to me what with the CAS style & the colours.
Your black and gold card really is stunning and I love how you placed the Chibi lights. Your other card from the weekend is also gorgeous. I love the fall colours that you used and by keeping it clean & simple all the attention is drawn to the beautiful colours and image which makes it very dramatic and so beautiful.
What a gorgeous card! It stands out so beautifully on the black background! And then you added lights! WOW!! Thanks for the wonderful inspiration!
