Over the weekend I shared this clean and simple watercolored card:
And today I’m getting a little more involved and adding in a fun light-up feature to my card using Chibitronics LED stickers!
When Chinese Lantern plants go to seed the shell turns into this really delicate cage and the large red seed inside is visible as shown here:
I thought it would be interesting to actually turn that little seed into a “lantern” and light up my card using Chibitronics! So to start I stamped the branches from the kit onto black cardstock with versamark and heat-embossed them with gold glitter embossing powder. Then I stamped the pods onto vellum with versamark, heat-embossed them with the same embossing powder, and die-cut them with the coordinating dies.
Next I created two circuits using Chibitronics LED stickers and twinkling effects stickers. Here’s a view of the circuit in action before I sealed up the card! You can find a more detailed tutorial for using these effects stickers here.
Once my circuits were finished I punched a tiny hole over the position of each light on my gold heat-embossed panel. I used a double layer of foam mounting tape to adhere the panel over the circuits. Then I used vellum adhesive to adhere the vellum pods onto the card. I stamped the sentiment from the kit on dark red cardstock and heat-embossed it with gold embossing powder. I trimmed it down to a label and adhered it to the card with foam mounting tape. Finally I added a few metallic gold sequins for a little more sparkle!
