Good morning! It’s time for the second half of the A Blog Named Hero design team to share additional inspiration for our September challenge! This month is all about one layer with our collaboration company, CAS-ual Friday Stamps, and here’s what I created!
I received the pretty Modern Petals set and thought it would be fun to do a little distress ink watercoloring with the main border stamp! I inked it with picked raspberry distress ink and then spritzed it twice with a mister. I stamped it onto distress watercolor paper and held it in place for ten seconds before lifting. I blotted off the excess watercolor and then stamped the inside of the design with the same distress ink. I repeated the process as I worked my down the card panel using distress inks in abandoned coral, candied apple, ripe persimmon, and mustard seed and then let it dry completely.
While it was drying I die-cut the Share Handmade Kindness sentiment from black cardstock. After the panel dried I die-cut the sentiment from the watercolor panel but reserved all the pieces. I adhered the watercolor panel to a card base with lots of adhesive (I still consider this technically one layer because the main panel is a single layer…I don’t like to use watercolor paper for the card base because it’s difficult to write on since it’s textured) and then fit the black cardstock sentiment into the panel. I tucked the reserved pieces of watercolor paper back into the panel (like the center of the a’s and the d’s) and finished the card with a few nuvo drops.
I can’t wait to see what you’ll create for our One Layer challenge! Thanks so much for visiting and have a wonderful day! 🙂
