My best friend Heather is expecting her first child in February and I’m throwing my first baby shower! It’s hard to believe that it’s been over 7 years since this photo was taken…
Anyway, I knew I wanted to make the invitations but it took awhile for me to select a theme and actually put my vision down on paper. The invitations were mailed last week and should have arrived by now so I can go ahead and share them here. This was probably one of the most labor intensive (no pun intended) projects I’ve taken on but I am really happy with the results!
The shower will be held later this fall and I thought that pumpkins would be a cute theme. I designed the actual invitation on my Silhouette Cameo and alternated the gold sketch pen and the ratchet blade for the written and cut designs and text. Then I mounted it onto a piece of gold glitter cardstock and attached that piece to shimmery chocolate brown cardstock that framed the entire invitation. For the pumpkins I put a piece of double-stick tape onto a piece of cardstock and then sprinkled on Glitter Ritz harvest gold and pumpkin spice microfine glitter and burnished it so that the glitter wouldn’t fall off. Then I ran the paper through the Big Shot with a pumpkin patch die set from Impression Obsession. I attached the pumpkins to the invitations and then embellished them with a few espresso sequins from Pretty Pink Posh.
The little tags were also created with the Silhouette and attached to the main invitation with a little natural twine. The tag requests that guests please bring a baby book with a personal message in place of a card to help build the baby’s library.
Finally I heat embossed a pumpkin stamp from the Lawn Fawn So Thankful stamp set onto the front of the envelopes with gold embossing powder and then did a faux calligraphy for the addresses. One of these days I’ll get around to actually taking a calligraphy course…
So, there are a few more surprises for Heather’s shower but I’ll blog about them after they’re shared with her!
