Good morning! I’m thrilled to introduce you to the newest Altenew Build-A-Flower set: Sakura Blossom! I fondly remember the cherry blossom trees when I lived in Japan as a child and this set perfectly captures the beauty of the cherry blossom flower! I love that there’s a more realistic layering option and also a more modern layer. Lots of possibilities with this set…and the included dimensional dies are AMAZING so I decided to focus on them and the inks from the ink bundle for my card today!
My cherry blossom is definitely more whimsical than realistic but I like the way it turned out. I started by swiping Rubellite, Pinkalicious, and Pink Diamond inks onto scraps of vellum and buffing them in with a paper towel. The colors aren’t quite as vibrant on vellum as they are on white cardstock but that suited the look I was going for. After the ink dried I die-cut the vellum with the various dies from the set and then folded them along the score lines. I layered the flower together with liquid adhesive and added a pink iridescent sequin on top to finish the flower. I also added a little spectrum noir clear sparkle to the darkest pink petals.
Next I stamped the layered leaves onto a white card base using Frayed Leaf and Forest Glades ink. I also stamped the sentiment from the Build-A-Flower set with Jet Black ink. Finally I adhered my flower and added a few more sequins to finish the card. I really love the look of the finished flower with the dies. When I have a little time I want to try die-cutting them with felt to create a little branch art for my craft room! 🙂 I’ll share how that turns out! 😉
Thanks so much for stopping by and have a wonderful rest of the week!!
