Good morning! Recently I purchased the Mama Elephant Unicorns and Rainbows stamp set from Ruby’s destash and I couldn’t wait to use it!!
I stamped a large herd of unicorns and used my ScanNCut to cut them all out…and I now have enough unicorns to last me for several months! As a child I was OBSESSED with unicorns! I remember the Scholastic Book Fair used to sell posters and there was ALWAYS at least one unicorn poster for sale each year. For awhile I had quite the unicorn-filled bedroom: stuffed animals, posters, figurines…they were EVERYWHERE! Playing with these stamps today brought me right back to first grade! 😉
So I started off by watercoloring one of the unicorns with my zig clean color real brush markers and blending them out with my spectrum noir sparkle brush. I intentionally wanted the unicorn to look a little softer and more dreamlike.
Next I stamped the horse from Lunar Animals onto a piece of cardstock with copic-friendly ink and I stamped a second image on masking paper. I colored him with copic markers and then masked him off. I also masked off a hill shape and then blended distress inks onto the top part of the panel to create a colorful sunrise. Next I masked off the sky and blended distress inks onto the bottom part of the panel to create the ground. I removed the masks and let the distress ink dry for a few minutes.
While it was drying I die-cut the thought bubbles out of vellum and adhered the unicorn over the largest one. I used glossy accents to adhere the other vellum bubbles to the card panel. I made sure to spread glossy accents over the entire bubble so that it wouldn’t show visible glue lines through the vellum when it dried. Ever since I saw the unicorns I had the idea to show my little horse dreaming of becoming a unicorn and I thought this sentiment was perfect for the card! My dreams of becoming a unicorn haven’t come true (yet!) but maybe my little horse will get there someday!
Thanks so much for visiting and I apologize in advance if there’s a unicorn overload on the blog in the next few weeks! 😉 Have a wonderful day!

*The vellum thought bubbles are from the discontinued Simon Says Stamp Talk Bubbles die set but you could easily use a cloud die and circle dies to create a similar look!
