Good morning! Today we’re starting the first 2018 challenge for Where Creativity Meets C9 and our theme is Anything Goes! You can find all the details and the rest of the design team’s creations here!
We are sponsored by the fantastic Concord & 9th and one lucky random entry will receive a $25 gift certificate for a Concord & 9th shopping spree and our favorite entry will be asked to guest-design for a future challenge!
I recently did a little destashing and finally parted with my very earliest Concord & 9th set (that’s actually discontinued now) but today’s card uses three early sets that are still some of my most favorite Concord & 9th designs! One is discontinued (boo!) and one is in the last chance section over at Concord & 9th so I highly recommend that you go snatch it up before it’s gone for good!! The sets are Let’s Chat, You’re My Person, and Wildflower!
I made this card with two of my crafty besties (and fellow teamies) in mind: Lisa and Emily! It’s been awhile since I’ve gotten to see them and I miss them fiercely! Plus my head is in major Creativation prep mode so I haven’t even been available much to talk or chat. Sigh.
But I took a break from crazy mode this weekend and did a little distress ink watercoloring for this card. And I love the way it turned out! I started by stamping the coffee mugs onto the card with versafine and heat-embossed them with clear embossing powder. Then I masked them off and stamped the flowers around them with versafine and heat-embossed them with the same clear embossing powder. I taped the panel down to a hardboard and then watercolored them using distress inks. After painting the flowers in vibrant shades of red and pink I used a pale wash of peacock feathers for the mugs and hickory smoke for the background and foliage.
Once it dried I peeled away the masking tape. Originally I had planned to trim off the white border but I ended up really liking how it looked so I just adhered the whole panel to a card base. I stamped the sentiment from You’re My Person with versafine, heat-embossed it with clear embossing powder, fussy cut it, and adhered it to the card with foam mounting tape.
And now it’s your turn! The challenge ends on January 29th and I can’t wait to see what you’ll create! Don’t forget to follow us on Facebook and Instagram for more design inspiration throughout the month! Thanks so much for visiting and have a fabulous week!
