Good morning! Today we’re starting the ninth challenge for Where Creativity Meets C9 and our theme is FLORALS! You can find all the details and the rest of the design team’s creations here!
We are sponsored by the fabulous Concord & 9th and one lucky random entry will receive a $25 gift certificate for a Concord & 9th shopping spree and our favorite entry will be asked to guest-design for a future challenge!
Here’s what I came up with!
I just adore that beautiful Lily stamp! After seeing Karen’s gorgeous card a few weeks ago I knew I wanted to try watercoloring it! I started by stamping the lily and the sentiment from Fill-In Phrases onto watercolor paper with versafine and then heat-embossed it with clear embossing powder. Then I smooshed Victorian Velvet, Seedless Preserves, and Dusty Concord distress inks onto my craft mat and watercolored the lily. I started with a light wash of Victorian Velvet at the tip of the petal and Seedless Preserves at the center. Once it dried I added more Seedless Preserves and Dusty Concord distress ink to create shadows.
Next I smooshed Black Soot distress ink onto my craft mat and then watered it down before doing a wash across the background of my card. I concentrated the color around the flower and the sentiment and then faded it out to the edges. I let it dry slightly until it was just slightly damp and then covered the lily with a mask. I flicked distress inks onto the background and then blotted it. I repeated the process two more times and waited longer each time before blotting for darker spots. Finally I flicked Dusty Concord distress ink onto the background and didn’t blot it at all. Once everything was dry I adhered it to a card base and added a sprinkling of purple ombre sequins!
And now it’s your turn! The challenge ends on May 28th and I can’t wait to see what you’ll create! Don’t forget to follow us on Facebook and Instagram for more design inspiration throughout the month! Thanks so much for visiting and have a fabulous week!
