Good morning! I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving yesterday and are ready for Black Friday crafty sales and shopping!!
I wanted to tell you about a special Black Friday sale going on this week! Through 11:59PM on November 28th, 2023 you can SAVE 25% SITEWIDE at Chibitronics with the code BF2023! I highly recommend picking up some of our Animating LEDs, Craft with Light kits, or Foam Adhesive and Battery Holder packs!
You might have noticed that I haven’t been blogging as much here as I used to. Earlier this year, I accepted a full time position with Chibitronics and have been busy creating lots of fun light-up crafty content for them! If you’re new to light-up cards or need a refresher, I’d recommend heading over and checking out my Chibitronics for Papercrafters video series on the Chibitronics YouTube channel! You’ll find lots of tutorials taking you from the basics of crafting with light to more advanced techniques and new videos are added regularly!
But today I wanted to share a fun interactive light up card video tutorial using Chibitronics and Lawn Fawn! I’m using a reed switch to create a ‘magical’ lightbulb switch that will turn my rainbow fade animating LEDs on and off! When the lightbulb is on the left side of the card the LED stickers are off. When you move the lightbulb to the right side of the card, the animating LED stickers turn on and slowly fade through the colors of the rainbow!
Watch the video below or over at my YouTube channel:

I blended a rainbow of distress oxide inks onto a panel of white cardstock before die-cutting it with the Giant Outlined Merry and Bright die from Lawn Fawn. I also die-cut the same die with gold glitter cardstock so that I could layer the two together. I built a circuit with a reed switch underneath my die cut panel and used a lightbulb die cut from Lawn Fawn to create my magnet switch to turn the LED stickers on and off!
The LED stickers start off in unison but after a few seconds they start to fade at slightly different speeds due to the distance of each sticker from the battery. I love how it gives you this more random rainbow effect! I did speed up the gif above to show you more of the colors…it is a slower fade in real time!
And that’s it for me today! Be sure to check out the Black Friday sale at Chibitronics! I’m off to do some crafty Black Friday shopping and get the Christmas tree put up! I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
If you’ve never crafted with light or tried animating LED stickers I want to introduce you to Chibitronics! Leave a comment before 11:59 PM EST on November 28th, 2023 and let me know what you’d light up! One random winner will be chosen to win a carefully curated package of Chibitronics products from me as well as a 30 minute one on one zoom session to learn how to create your first circuit!
Thanks so much for visiting, happy shopping, and happy crafting!

I would like to light up some Christmas cards
for my family. I’ve been afraid to try the
lights as I’m not mechanically inclined.
The video would help. Thanks for the
offer.

What a fun card! Love the colors and the addition of the lights! I haven’t attempted any light up cards yet (I’m rather overwhelmed by putting a light up card together!).
Congrats on your position with Chibitronics!
