Good afternoon and welcome to this week’s Christmas Card Challenge! We are challenging you to create a card with a travel theme…think sleighs, cars, boats, trains…and here’s my interpretation:
I had a lot of fun with this card…I knew I wanted to create a scene with reindeer and I thought it’d be fun to make them “fly”. I started off by taking Black Soot distress ink and blending it onto the bottom of a piece of Simon Says Stamp Soft Navy cardstock. I spritzed it lightly with shimmer spray to get the effects of stars in a night sky. Then I die-cut a piece of silver glitter paper into a large circle to create a full moon and adhered it to the sky panel.
Then I die-cut several deer from the WPlus9 Stag Trio die set with black cardstock and set them aside. I saved the scraps I used to die-cut the deer and used the negative space as a stencil. I lightly sponged Black Soot distress ink over the deer stencil to create the illusion of shadows behind the deer! Next I adhered the deer die cuts. Some were popped up with foam mounting tape to create dimension while others were left flat. I added the little bit of silver sparkle twine to make a harness for the reindeer. The sentiment is from a Simon Says Stamp set and was stamped onto a fishtail banner die-cut piece. The entire panel was adhered to a black cardstock base and to finish the card I added red stickles to the nose of the reindeer in front!
