Good afternoon! Thanks for stopping by for another Anything Goes week at Christmas Card Challenges! There are no rules this week except to create a holiday card so dust off those stamps and join the fun! I decided to break out a stamp set I’ve owned for awhile but never used. I wasn’t quite sure where I was going when I started but I loved how it turned out!
I started out by die-cutting the snowdrops from the Clearly Besotted Winter Blooms set with watercolor paper. The dies from Clearly Besotted are solid which makes it a little harder to see how they line up so I usually die-cut the paper first and then stamp. I stamped the flowers with versamark and then heat-embossed them with white embossing powder. Next I colored the leaves and stems with my Kuretake Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers. After adding two shades of green I went over them lightly with my water brush. For the flowers I added a tiny bit of shading with a gray marker and then added lots of clear glitter from my wink of stella brush pen! I set that aside and went to work on the background!
For the background I taped a piece of watercolor paper onto my work surface with post-it tape. Then I smooshed chipped sapphire, tumbled glass, and stormy sky distress ink onto my craft sheet, spritzed them with water, and then applied ink to the watercolor paper using a piece of acetate. The flexible acetate gives you more control than smooshing with an acrylic block and I like being able to manipulate the ink to give me more or less coverage depending on the look I’m going for! After I finished with the distress inks I put a little iridescent medium from Winsor and Newton on my craft sheet, spritzed it with water, and applied it using acetate.
Next I wanted my snowdrops growing out of a snowy bank so I ripped a piece of white cardstock, applied versamark to the torn edge, and then added Wow Diamond White embossing glitter. I stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set with versamark and heat-embossed it with Ranger Silver embossing powder. To finish the card I trimmed a little off the top and then mounted it to a top-folding card base of Simon Says Stamp Soft Navy cardstock!
Make sure you check out all the fabulous inspiration the design team is bringing this week and I look forward to seeing your creations!!
Thanks so much for visiting and enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Drop dead gorgeous. I’ve already seen some great examples of smooshing in the current OCC, but I’m even more determined to give it a go after seeing your background. Love this distress ink combo.
