Don’t forget to celebrate World Card Making Day with The Ton Stamps by hopping along with the design team or entering your own card in our first challenge! You have a few more days to join the fun!
Good afternoon and welcome back to another Christmas Card Challenge! This week we have a color inspiration challenge for you…lots of cool tones in this palette!
I realized that I haven’t made a shaker card in almost a week (THE HORROR! Ha!) so here’s what I came up with!
To start, I first inked up the sentiment stamp from Mama Elephant with versamark and then added the various pigment inks to create an ombre effect. When I’m using several inks I like to add the layer of versamark first…it seems to help with blending and also gives a nice even coverage. To ink the stamp I just used the edge of the ink pad and if any ink transferred from pad to pad I just stamped the pad off on a piece of scrap paper until it was clean! I heat-embossed the sentiment with clear embossing powder and then die-cut a frame for my shaker from silver glitter paper. I filled the shaker with tons of seed beads, bugle beads, and sequins from The Ton Stamps in colors matching my sentiment! (This is when it really helps to have 400+ beads and sequins!) 😉
I hope you’ll play along this week…we’d love for you to play along with the color challenge but really, the only rule is that you create a holiday card!

Hey Jess, so you inked your sentiment with versamark and then before you stamped your sentiment you inked it with the other colors?
jessica frost-ballas says
Beth, yes…the layer of versamark below the pigment inks seems to help keep the pigment inks moist when you’re inking several colors in a row! 🙂
