Christmas Card Challenges #7: Photo Challenge

Good afternoon!!  I’m back with a fun photo challenge for Christmas Card Challenges!

I loved all of the various shades of gold in the photo and decided to use that as my inspiration!

To create my card I stamped branches from the Hero Arts Holiday Pine Branches stamp set with versamark and heat-embossed each layer with a different embossing powder.  I used the following embossing powders: Hero Arts Gold embossing powder, Ranger Gold Tinsel embossing powder, Ranger Princess Gold embossing powder, WOW Metallic Gold Rich embossing powder, and WOW Gold Pearl embossing powder.  I love the pale shimmer of the gold pearl embossing powder and the extra sparkly texture of the gold tinsel embossing powder.  The other three shades of gold were all slightly different which created a really cool effect.  You can see the differences a little better in the up-close photo below though it’s really noticeable in person.

Next I stamped and heat-embossed the sentiment from Mama Elephant’s Jingle Greetings onto vellum.  I tore the strips of vellum and layered them on the top of my card with vellum tape.  I wanted to use vellum so it wouldn’t hide my wreath but I also wanted the sentiment to stand out from the rest of the gold embossing and the second layer of vellum really helped create that impact.  I trimmed down the panel and adhered it to gold cardstock.  I really love the way it turned out and am looking forward to recreating the card on colored cardstock for a different look!
