Good morning! Today I’m excited to share a card with you using new products from the Waves of Happiness release from Catherine Pooler! I fell hard for the adorable puffins from Puffin Party!!
First I stamped my puffins with versafine and heat-embossed them with clear embossing powder. Then I added a little copic coloring to their beaks and a little shading to their faces and bellies. I stamped a sentiment from Puffin Party on black cardstock, heat-embossed it with white embossing powder, and trimmed it to a square label. Then I die-cut the puffins with the coordinating dies and set them aside while I worked on the rest of the card. I die-cut the Rocky Cove from Strathmore bristol smooth cardstock and blended it with distress inks in antique linen and tea dye. I used distress inks instead of oxides so I could color over it with copics and not damage the markers. The formula of oxides doesn’t mix well with copic markers and can gum up your marker tips! I used copic markers to color some of the fun details in the die and then splattered it with water and blotted off the excess.
Next I masked off the bottom of a panel of Strathmore bristol smooth cardstock and blended Do-Si-Do, Chiffon, and Catching Rays ink to create my cheery sky. I dried it with my heat gun and then masked off the sky. I blended the water using two of the newest Catherine Pooler Ink colors: Tranquil and Cove Blue! Once the panel was dry I adhered the Rocky Cove to the left side of my card and trimmed off the excess. Finally, I added my puffins and sentiments with foam mounting tape to finish the card!
