I shared this card using the My Monthly Hero kit on my blog this weekend:
And today, I’m sharing a set of four cards created from one watercolored background with the January 2021 My Monthly Hero kit!
I have a video for this card set that you can watch below or over at my YouTube channel:
IF THE VIDEO IS NOT VISIBLE PLEASE CLICK HERE TO HEAD TO YOUTUBE TO WATCH!
I started by stamping the honeycomb outline image across a 9″ by 12″ panel of arches cold press watercolor paper with versafine. I stamped the image in random directions, connected some images, and stamped some off the edges of the paper. Then I heat-embossed the images with clear embossing powder. I taped the panel down to my work surface and then did some loose watercoloring across the entire panel with different shades of yellow and metallic gold watercolor paint. I also splattered the panel with yellow, gold, and black watercolor and then let it dry completely.
Once the panel was dry I trimmed it into four A2 panels cut to 4.25″ by 5.5″. Then I stamped a small army of bumblebees with versafine and heat-embossed them with clear embossing powder. I colored them simply using three shades of yellow and two shades of blue copic markers before die-cutting them with coordinating dies.
Next I stamped four of the sentiments from the kit onto black cardstock with versamark and heat-embossed them with white embossing powder. I trimmed them down to squares and rectangles and then matted them with frames cut from the black glitter paper included in the kit. Next I decided what orientation I wanted for each panel and adhered them to card bases. Then I added the bees and sentiments with foam mounting tape. I love how each card looks totally different and yet it just took one background panel to create four cards! Honestly the full 9″ by 12″ panel isn’t the most composed design but once you cut them down it really transforms them into unique and interesting cards! And those bees are just the perfect finishing touch!
And that’s it for me! I just adore those chubby bumblebees! Head over and pick up your January My Monthly Hero kit and add-ons today before it sells out!
To celebrate the kit release Hero Arts is giving away a $50 gift card as a prize to one blog reader selected from the comments across all of the blogs in the hop so make sure you leave a comment at each hop stop for the most chances to win!
