Essentials by Ellen August Pin-Sights Challenge

Good morning!  I am super excited to be a guest designer for the August Pin-Sights Challenge!  The Essentials by Ellen Pin-Sights challenge is a monthly inspirational challenge based on a Pinterest Inspired photo that is located on the CLASSroom blog.  A random challenge participant will receive a $50 gift certificate to the Ellen Hutson store.  To be eligible, you must use Essentials by Ellen products and the photo badge as inspiration.  There is an InLinkz link-up on the challenge post where you can enter!

And here’s the beautiful inspiration photo for August:

I loved the colors and I loved that beautiful cake in the center photo.  I decided to use the new Mondo Peony to create my own floral wedding cake.

I started by stamping the Mondo Peony onto watercolor paper with versamark and then heat-embossed it with gold tinsel embossing powder.  Next I colored it with zigs, blended it with a waterbrush, and fussy cut each flower and leaves.  Next I trimmed down rough watercolor paper to create my two cake layers and adhered them together.  I used a piece of the ribbon that Ellen Hutson provides in each order to add a little definition between the layers.  Then I stamped the sentiment from Lovely with versamark and heat-embossed it with the same gold tinsel embossing powder.  Finally I tucked my flowers in around each layer of the cake and added a few metallic gold sequins for a little extra sparkle.
