I am just blown away by the backgrounds on both cards (gotta get some yupo paper to try!), but I love the second card best. The trail of “bubbles” is beautiful! (I actually saw your post first and commented on it last, and I still love how you used the clear sequins to creat it!) Thank you.

Oh Jessica, those backgrounds are spectacular. This is a whole new way for me to use my alcohol inks. How awesome! My favorite color is blue so I’d have to say the mermaid tail in blue is my favorite, but both cards are amazing.

gorgeous cards ! i love the wavy watery effect achieved by alcohol inks, very cool. The hues are so vibrant! Will have to try it sometime 🙂 I adore both of them but the first one really stole the show for me.

Both cards are gorgeous! I think I have a slight preference for the pink mermaid tail card. I like the contrast to the blue of the water and the sequin bubbles are genius!
Pat Thornton says
I loved both cards, but I especially like the mermaid tail in the pinks and oranges.
MARIE ROBINSON says
I just love all the sparkle, shimmer, and shine on these cards. And that trail of bubbles really catches the eye on your second card — my favorite!

Love the pink, tail and the big swoosh of,sequins
Lou Wittmer says
Loving them both for different elements but got to go with the shades of blue tails…..I’m just a tone on tone kind of gal.
Maggie Carmody says
I really like both cards and they did make me look at alcohol inks in a different way but I really like the 2nd card with the Salmon colors. I also loved how you used sequins to create the illusion of bubbles! Love it!
Carolyn S says
Both a simply beautiful but I think I prefer the second card by just the slightest margin. I like the contrast of the pink against the blue background – it really makes the tail pop. Second, that trail of sequins is such a great idea and is so pretty!
Christy Q says
Beautiful cards, Jess!! The alcohol ink blending is superb and I love the two different ways you used the sequins – so awesome! I think the second card is my favorite because I love the contrast in colors between the background and the tail (and the gorgeous sequin wave)!

I am obsessed with this mermaid tail set. Tried to make a card yesterday…not perfect but…ok. Can I ask here when you say you attached the tails with vellum adhesive, were one of the tails vellum? I haven’t use vellum often. With alcohol inks does it need to dry naturally or can you heat dry it? Those the vellum go on white card stock as a background. I know, so many questions. Which tale did you put the mini wobbler under? Did you put that tail down with foam tape. I love both your tails!!

I love the mermaid card! I hope I win the prize 7/21 is my birthday. Fingers crossed.

sequin bubbles and the gorgeous backgrounds are fantastic – beautiful cards Jess – the first card is my fave with all the shades of blue!
Ange says
Both cards are just stunning! I especially like the way the silver elements makes the one card shimmer, while the coral-pink tail on the other card really pops! Absolutely amazing job!! I’ve never worked with alcohol inks before, but I’m feeling inspired thanks to you!!
Sharon O says
Love both the cards, starting from the backgrounds! I guess I like the blue one better but those sequin bubbles on the pink one are stunning!
Marianne says
I was going to say I loved the blue version the most, but actually I love them both for different reasons. I love the monochromatic colour scheme of the blue version, but you have me swooning over the background of the second card and the cool sequin bubbles.

Wow, Jess, those wave backgrounds are awesome … love the sense of movement and energy about them! Which is my favourite? Goodness, how to choose … the blue tailed one with the wobbler is just beautiful … and that trail of sequin bubbles above the pink/orange/yellow tail is brilliant! Think the latter just makes it with a photo finish! Anita 🙂

I like the card with the Blue tails. The sequin bubbles are cool.
Pat Bowman says
Your cards are beyond amazing! Absolutely gorgeous and I adore the trail of sequins – just brilliant!
Melissa B. says
Honestly, I don’t have a favorite, they are both fantastic! I’m going to have to get some of that yupo paper. I haven’t played with my alcohol inks in ages. Great work Jessica!
Pam Dunbar says
Gorgeous cards! It is hard to choose which one I like best but I think the blue tail, the tone on tone is perfect. Never tried alcohol inks, now they are on my wish list! Thanks.
Dee Earnshaw says
Amazing looking cards!!!! Oh my, Jessica your background techniques are gorgeous. LOVE how you made the the translucent watery effect:) My fav would have to be the first technique in which you move the card stock to create the background wave design and added the gorgeous blue mermaid tail!!
Betsy Hunter says
First, they are both beautiful, but I think I prefer the second one, I love what you did with the sequins coming off the tail. Silly question, what adhesive did you use for the sequin? And I love that mermaid tail stamp set. It’s on my wish list 😀
jessica frost-ballas says
Hi Betsy, I used glossy accents for the sequins!
Janet Carter says
Both of your cards are beautiful (love that mermaid tail) and your technique for the underwater backgrounds. It is hard to pick one, but I guess the red/pink/orange tail with gold embossing and sequin bubbles is my favorite. I like the sentiment on the first one, however.
