Today’s sponsor company is the fabulous Flora and Fauna and I’m so excited to feature their stamps in my card today! I’m in love with their fun sketchy designs and you can see more cards I’ve created with their products here and here. Today I decided to do a little ink blending and embossing for a simple but peaceful winter scene. I started by blending black soot, seedless preserves, faded jeans, salty ocean, and broken china distress ink onto a panel of bristol smooth cardstock. I splattered it with water to create the illusion of big snowflakes in the distance of my scene. After that was dry I splattered it with copic opaque white paint to create closer snowflakes.
Next I stamped the trees from Arctic Starry Night onto the bottom of my panel with versamark and heat-embossed them with silver embossing powder. Then I stamped the sentiment and snowflake clusters with versamark and heat-embossed them with the same silver embossing powder. Finally I sprayed the entire panel with shimmer spray. It’s a very subtle shimmer but it’s really sparkly when it catches the light!
It’s not a party without a prize – and with prizes every day there are several chances to win! Today’s prize is generously supplied by Flora and Fauna so you’ll definitely want to win! This is so pretty. I really like how you did the trees in silver instead of white to indicate snow. I think it conveys how trees actually look in the snow, because some of that dark pine color comes through the white, so they end up looking silver, but I wouldn’t have thought of that on my own! In retrospect it all seems so clear, which is why you’re the pro! Thanks for participating, especially in the midst of all the bloghops you’ve been doing recently. I appreciate your ideas.
