Good morning! The Oh What Fun Winter release from Hero Arts is now available and we’re celebrating with a big blog hop and giveaways! I’m sharing two cards using some of my favorite new products from the release!
My first card uses the GORGEOUS Cathedral of Trees bold print background stamp! I just love that feeling of looking up and seeing the tops of trees and a peek of the sky in the distance! To start I blended Cornflower and Navy ink onto the edges of a piece of Periwinkle cardstock. Then I stamped the Cathedral of Trees stamp onto the panel using my MISTI and heat-embossed it with white embossing powder. I placed the panel back inside my MISTI, stamped it again, and heat-embossed it with sparkle embossing powder. It just adds a fun little pop of sparkle to the card!
I trimmed the panel down to 4.25″ by 5.5″ and adhered it to a card base. Then I stamped a sentiment from From the Vault Home Scene onto Nautical cardstock and heat-embossed it with white embossing powder. I trimmed it down and adhered it to the card with foam mounting tape. Finally I finished the card by adding stars (or snow!) in my night sky with a white gel pen and a posca paint pen!
My second card is a little more labor intensive and a bit of an experiment than the first! I just loved the look of the Nordic Holiday Bold Print background stamp and thought it would be fun to try to create the pattern using gouache on a dark background! So I started by stamping the Nordic Holiday onto a piece of black cardstock with unicorn white pigment ink. I blasted that with my heat gun to set it and then carefully painted over some of the shapes with gouache. It was my very first time using gouache and I definitely didn’t quite have a handle on how much to use or how much water to add but it was fun to outline the shapes and color them with opaque paint. Once the paint was totally dry I stuck the panel back inside my MISTI and used a versamark pen to carefully ink the snowflakes, bunnies, and deer. I stamped them onto the panel and heat-embossed them with white detail embossing powder. I trimmed the panel down and then adhered it to an A2 base of Adriatic cardstock. I stamped the sentiment from Color Layering Nordic Tree onto Cranberry cardstock, trimmed it down to a thin label, and adhered it to the card with foam mounting tape to finish the card.
I highly recommend checking out the new release! Besides these fun products there are now reinkers available for our Reactive Inks!! We also have new Halloween and Christmas stamps and dies and some fabulous new enamel dots and glitter embellishments! I’d love to know your favorites from the new release!

I love how the trees look so snowy without a lot of fussy detail. The next card is simply “WOW”! The labor you put into that design makes it truly one of a kind.

The “sending peace” card would make an awesome sympathy card. I will have to try that. Awesome and beautiful.

The Cathedral of Trees gave me a visceral chill. Reminds me of Robert Frost poem: Stopping by the Wood on a Snowy Evening. So appropriate considering your name.
