Good morning! We’re kicking off the countdown to the Hero Arts September My Monthly Hero kit today and I’m sharing a card using the new kit!
To start I stamped the gorgeous sunflower image onto the top and bottom of a panel of white cardstock with contour no-line ink to use as a guide. The kit has fabulous layering stencils that I used to add color to my sunflowers. I used blending brushes to apply dandelion, butter bar, caramel, cup o’ joe, moss, and forever green ink to the various stencil layers to create my sunflowers. Then I used my MISTI to line up the floral outline on the panel, stamped it with versafine and heat-embossed it with clear embossing powder for sharp definition!
Next I took a black copic marker and colored the panel in between the two stamps to create a solid black background. Once it was totally dry I stamped part of the sentiment with embossing ink and heat-embossed it with gold embossing powder. I die-cut the ‘hello’ word from gold glitter cardstock and adhered it to the panel to complete the card!
And that’s it for me! Head over to the Hero Arts blog for more inspiration using the September My Monthly Hero kit all weekend long!! And then I’ll be back Tuesday with the full kit reveal and a video!!
For a chance to win a kit before you can buy it, just leave a comment on this (and every) Countdown to Creativity post. We’ll randomly draw one lucky winner from all the comments left across all countdown posts. The winner will be announced first thing Tuesday morning, September 7th, before the kit launches at 10am Pacific. The more you comment, the more chances to win!

Love the contrast of the black from the colorful flowers. Also love the idea of creating the flowers first and then stamping to get the definition like you stated.

You are a genius to even conceive this card. I LOVE the black background but I would never have tried o create I using markers. I’ve only used markers to color small images…never a background. I have to TA think in out if the box! Thanks so much for the inspiration. I love this card, maybe because My favorite jumpsuit from back in the day 😂 was sunflowers on a navy background.
