I used mostly the main kit items for my card today but I can’t wait to share a card with that adorable pinata soon! 😉
I loved the cactus stamps in the kit and in honor of my recent trip to Phoenix I decided to make a cactus landscape card! I started by stamping the four cactus designs onto a stack of full-sticky post-it notes. I pulled off three sticky notes and fussy cut the cactus which gave me three masks for each design. Then I started building my scene by stamping a cactus on watercolor paper with versafine and heat-embossing it with clear embossing powder, then masking it and stamping another. I repeated this process until I had all the cactus I wanted! 🙂
Then I simply watercolored my scene with my mijello mission gold watercolors. I painted the cactus first and then added a thin layer of masking fluid over each cactus. I let it dry and then added washes with a flat brush to create the sand and sunset! I also flicked darker brown and red paints across the sand to create a little depth and dimension. Once the background was dry I rubbed away the masking fluid and then added little touches of gold by swiping a versamark cube across the panel and heat-embossing it with gold glitter embossing powder! Next I stamped the sentiment on black cardstock, heat-embossed it with white embossing powder and trimmed it down before adhering it to the watercolor panel with foam mounting tape. Finally I stamped the Blanket Patterns bold print background stamp onto a piece of black cardstock with versamark and heat-embossed it with clear embossing powder. I trimmed the watercolor piece down and adhered it over the black background to finish my card! I love the cute cactus with the sparkly gold sand! 😉
