Good morning and Happy 4th of July to those celebrating! I wanted to pop in with a fun card before getting back to some holiday baking and cooking! 🙂
I was eager to play with the new Layered Fireworks stencil set from Trinity Stamps! I started by placing the stencil over a 3.5″ by 8″ panel of strathmore bristol cardstock, masked of all but one firework and pressed a versamark pad over the stencil firmly. Then I heat-embossed it with Hero Arts red embossing powder. I placed the second stencil over top of the embossed design and pressed the versamark pad over it again. This time I heat-embossed it with Ranger blue tinsel embossing powder. I repeated the process alternating layering the stencil or just using one layer with those embossing powders as well as white embossing powder and silver tinsel embossing powder.
Once I was done heat-embossing I used blending brushes to apply blueprint sketch, chipped sapphire, and black soot distress oxide ink over the panel. I prefer using blender brushes over glittery embossing powder because the regular blending pads to tend to catch and tear on the sharper edges of the embossing powder. I could have embossed the metallic powders after blending but decided to do all the embossing first. I splattered the panel with water and shimmer spray and blotted off the excess. Then I stamped the mountains from Simon Says Stamp’s From the Rooftops and colored them with copics before fussy-cutting them. I used foam mounting tape to adhere them to the bottom of my card and added a sentiment inside to keep the focus on those fun fireworks!
And that’s it! Before you head off to BBQs and fireworks make sure to shop the holiday sale over at Simon Says Stamp and save 15% off sitewide with the code HPY4TH!! Happy shopping!
Thanks so much for visiting and have a fantastic day!
