Hi everyone and welcome to the Heffy Friends Blog Hop! Today we are celebrating the Heffy Doodle July 2020 release with lots of inspiration and a giveaway, too!
I created two very different cards using two of my favorite sets from the release: You Go, Gull and Fluffy Puffy Unicorns. My first card is a very jewel-toned sunset slimline card using You Go, Gull!
I love mixing unusual distress oxide inks together to create beautiful skies! For this card I blended Dried Marigold, Abandoned Coral, Seedless Preserves, Blueprint Sketch, and Chipped Sapphire distress oxide ink onto a panel of strathmore bristol smooth cardstock. I let it dry and then die-cut it with the largest Stitched Slimline Trio Border dies! I love that this die set has three outline dies to give you lots of size options for your slimline cards! Once the panel was totally dry I stamped the sentiment from You Go, Gull onto the panel with versamark and heat-embossed it with white embossing powder.
Next I blended two panels for my sun and waves. I blended Scattered Straw and Dried Marigold distress oxide ink onto one panel and Blueprint Sketch and Chipped Sapphire distress oxide ink onto the second panel. I die-cut the sun with a circle die and then used the new Breaking Waves Border dies for the waves. I also die-cut the waves with the Stitched Slimline Border dies so that the sides would have the same nice stitching detail as the sky panel.
While my blended panels were drying I stamped the images from You Go, Gull with versafine and heat-embossed them with clear embossing powder. I colored them with copic markers and then die-cut them with the coordinating dies. I also colored inside the buoys to match the sky and waves as much as possible. I adhered all my images to the scene and cut a slit for one seagull to float on the waves! I kinda love how dramatic it turned out! I don’t often refrain from adding splatters or spritzes of water to my blended panels but I really kinda like that I didn’t here!
My next card is about as sparkly and pastel-y sweet as my first is not! 😉
For this card I blended a panel of strathmore bristol smooth cardstock with Picked Raspberry, Spun Sugar, and Shaded Lilac. I splattered it with water and then spritzed it thoroughly with shimmer spray until the whole panel sparkled! Then I set it aside to dry while I worked on the rest of the card. I die-cut clouds from the Silver Lining Clouds Border dies using white cardstock and vellum for the top and bottom of my card. I stamped the sentiment from Fluffy Puffy Unicorns onto one of the clouds with versafine and heat-embossed it with clear embossing powder.
Next I stamped the unicorns and clouds from Fluffy Puffy Unicorns with versafine and heat-embossed them with clear embossing powder. I colored them with copic markers and then die-cut them with the coordinating dies! I arranged all my elements over my blended panels and adhered them with a mix of regular adhesive and foam mounting tape for a little dimension. Then I went over EVERYTHING with my spectrum noir clear sparkle brush marker. Seriously this card is practically blinding when it catches the light…just like a unicorn should be! 😉
And that’s it! The new release has incredible variety and some absolutely fantastic designs and you should definitely check it out! 🙂
To celebrate the hop Heffy Doodle will be giving away a £50 gift card! Make sure to comment on each stop in the hop to be entered for your chance to win. The winner will be selected randomly and announced on the Heffy Doodle blog on August 25th.

You make blended skies like no one else! I love seeing all the color combos you come up with. I also really like how you did the shading on the gulls to help enhance the look of sunset. And who doesn’t love candy-shades of unicorns? Your cards are just a world of gorgeous.
(This has nothing to do with the bloghop, but whenever I watch your videos, I think “Oh, what pretty harp music.” Then after a second I think, “Oh wait! I bet that’s HER playing!” It’s a happy realization every time.)
