Good morning and Happy World Card Making Day! I am excited to be joining in a massive blog hop for a good cause! Catherine Pooler and Chaitali Narla have collaborated on a new stamp set for Catherine Pooler Designs called Hello World and for one week (starting right now!) all sales of this stamp set and the coordinating dies will be donated to the cause they’ve chosen! Fellow crafter, Jennifer Ingle’s, husband works in an urban school system and is trying to raise money to purchase computers for his middle school classroom. You can find more information about the fundraiser here.
I love the big ‘hello’ in the middle of the set and focused on that for my cards!
First I stamped the sentiment with versamark and heat-embossed it with white embossing powder. Next I wet a loose shape on the paper around the sentiment and then added watercolors. I allowed the colors to mix and then set it aside to dry. Once it was totally dry I splattered it with black ink.
Next I stamped the rest of the sentiment on black cardstock and heat-embossed it with white embossing powder. I trimmed it down to label size and adhered it with foam mounting tape. Then I stamped the stripey border from Yay Stripes onto my card base with black ink, trimmed my watercolor panel, and adhered it to the card base. Finally I added a sprinkling of glossy black sequins to finish the card!
My second card follows a similar design but I painted stripes in cool shades of blue and purple. These were really fun to make (I love playing with watercolors) and you could make endless card sets using the Hello World stamp set and watercolors! I hope you like them!
You should have arrived here from Dana Joy’s blog and your stop is the wonderful Laura Bassen! Here’s a full list of all the hoppers who will be sharing lots of inspiration for how you can use your new Hello World stamp set! 😉
