I recently discovered Impression Obsession and I LOVE their dies (plus they’re located not too far away in Williamsburg)! Their dies are super detailed and have great images and scenes! I decided to participate in their most recent challenge to create a square card. I’m starting to work on Christmas cards and the birch and cardinal dies were PERFECT for the holiday!
I used the new Mama Elephant Winter Wonderland stamp set for the background trees. I used Studio Calico’s Clean Slate ink and used generation stamping to get the different shades of grey to create dimension in the “forest”. Then I cut the birch trees from white cardstock and drew lines on some of the branches and parts of the trunk with a Ranger medium pen. Then I used Wow silver glitter embossing powder and heat embossed the sparkly “snow” on the branches. For the two outside trees I used a single layer of foam mounting tape to pop the trees off of the background. For the middle trees, I attached them directly to the window panel and then mounted the window panel with two layers of mounting tape. This gives the tree cut outs a little more dimension and helps give that feeling of a dense forest.
I cut the two cardinals with red cardstock and went over with them a clear wink of stella pen to give them a little shine as well. Then I mounted them to the trees using different layers of foam tape so that they also have more dimension. I stamped the sentiment from the same Mama Elephant set and embossed it with clear embossing powder so it would stand out a little more. Finally I embellished the sentiment with a few red gemstones.
