Good afternoon! Today is the release day for the Hero Arts July 2016 My Monthly Hero and I am so honored and excited to be celebrating the release with the Hero Arts Creative team and other special guests! You should have arrived from Lydia Fiedler’s blog but if not, you can head to the Hero Arts Blog to start at the beginning! The new kit is now available for purchase at Hero Arts and once they’re sold out, they’re gone for good so make sure to head over and shop soon! I’m extra excited about this kit because 1) the underwater marine theme is incredibly gorgeous and because 2) Hero Arts is going to donate 10% of profits for the July 2016 My Monthly Hero Kit to ocean preservation through the World Wildlife Fund! How cool is that?!
So here are the details…the kit contains:
- A large 6×8 stamp set
- Matching Frame Cuts dies
- Ombré Dolphin ink pad **
- Lucy’s Sequins Mermaid mix, made exclusively for Hero Arts
- 2 half sheets of Aqua Lagoon metallic cardstock
- 2 half sheets of Silver Swirl text weight paper
- CM104 Color Layering Octopus
- DI304 Color Layering Octopus Frame Cuts
- DI305 Paper Layering Octopus
- AF365 Ombré Mermaid ink pad add-on (this one is blue to purple)
Don’t forget to check out the bottom of my post for details on how to win a kit!
Here’s what I created with the kit:
I loved the layered jellyfish and wanted to focus him prominently in my card. I started by stamping him with versamark and heat-embossing him with white embossing powder on a piece of watercolor paper. Then I painted the background using Peacock Feathers, Salty Ocean, and Chipped Sapphire distress inks. I let it dry and then added splatters of water. I let the water sit for 30 seconds before blotting it off. Then I repeated the splatters but let them sit for a full minute so my bubbles would have a little more dimension. Next I stamped the top layer of the jellyfish and the sentiment with versamark and heat-embossed them with gold embossing powder.
Then I took a piece of dark navy cardstock, stamped some of the sea corals onto the bottom half of the cardstock with versamark, and heat-embossed them with the same gold embossing powder. I adhered that to a white cardbase and then used foam mounting tape to adhere the distress inked panel off-kilter. Finally I added a sprinkling of gold sequins. I love gold, navy, and white for nautical themes and I think my jellyfish looks particularly elegant in gold! 😉
So that’s all for today! I have several more cards to share using this kit but figured I’d just share one today since you have quite a few more stops on the hop! 🙂
To celebrate the release Hero Arts is giving away one kit as a prize to one blog reader selected from the comments across all of the blogs in the hop so make sure you leave a comment at each hop stop for the most chances to win! If you win and have already purchased the kit you will be reimbursed! Here’s a list of all the stops on the hop:
