Today I’m sharing a trio of cards that I created with the newest Lawnscaping Challenge: Clean and Simple in mind…
I tend to struggle with CAS cards when I’m actively trying to create something clean and simple. It comes more naturally when I’m just putting a card together…it’s a little odd, I know. I was having problems visualizing what I wanted to create, so I randomly pulled out a couple Lawn Fawn stamp sets and took it from there.
This is what I came up with!
I think this is my favorite card! The stamp set I pulled was Starry Backdrops. I decided to use the large star stamp with masking. I also grabbed the small bunny from the Hello Baby set as the focal image. To start off, I stamped the bunny with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Then I used masking paper to mask off the bunny and I also cut a curved line for the ground and masked that off under the bunny. I prepped the paper with my powder tool and then stamped and heat embossed the stars. Then I used a mini ink blending tool to blend Chipped Sapphire, Salty Ocean, and Tumbled Glass distress ink onto the sky.
I peeled off the ground and used the negative space from the masking paper to mask off the sky so I could blend Mowed Lawn distress ink onto the ground. Finally I removed the masking paper from the bunny and colored him with copics. To finish the card I adhered the card to Simon Says Stamp Fog Cardstock base, stamped the sentiment with Memento ink, and added a little clear wink of stella glitter to the bunny’s cheek and tail.
I was having fun with the Starry Backdrops set so I decided to make another card! I used my M.I.S.T.I. to help line up the rainbow and stamped it in Simon Says Stamp and Hero Shadow inks. I stamped the clouds with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, fussy cut them, and adhered them over the rainbow with foam mounting tape. Then I used the M.I.S.T.I. again for the sentiment. I stamped it several times removing the inks from various parts of the stamp with a baby wipe to create the rainbow effect. Finally I added the little line of stars from the stamp set to highlight the sentiment. I mounted the piece onto gold glitter paper before adding it to a top folding white card base.
The other stamp set I grabbed was Flutter By. I knew I wanted to use the butterfly and flower but wanted different greenery. I used the leaves from the Blissful Botanicals set. I stamped and heat embossed the flower and leaves and then watercolored them. Looking back I probably should have also used black ink and clear embossing powder for them. I was originally planning to do more of a watercolor wash which is why I used the white powder. I stamped the butterfly in Versafine Onyx Black ink and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. I colored the images with Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolors. The sentiment was also stamped in Versafine ink and heat embossed with clear powder. I offset the card onto a purple card base and corner-chomped the right edges.
I may have to do more “grab a random set” creations…it was kinda fun to take the decision-making process away and leave it to chance! Thanks for visiting!
