Good morning! Today I am honored to be a stop on the hop for the Layton’s Legacy Card Drive and Fundraiser Blog Hop. Lea Lawson has organized this event in honor of her son, Layton. You can find all the details of the card drive and fundraiser on Lea’s blog and fundraiser site but here is the general premise:
Lea is raising funds to buy Starbucks gift cards for NICU parents at The University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital where she spent considerable time with her son before he passed away. She’s also organizing a card drive where you can create a card based on her moodboard and send it to her so that she may include it with the gift card. There are 50 beds in the NICU unit and Lea said they’re always full so the more cards and donations, the better. I understand the need for a little bit of normalcy in the midst of an emergency and I can imagine that just stepping across the street for a cup of coffee and a chance to reflect would be greatly appreciated by parents in these situations.
Many papercrafting and stamping companies have come together to offer more than $2000 in prizes to people who donate at least $5 to Lea’s fundraiser and I also have a personal giveaway. You’ll find the details for the sponsor prizes and my personal giveaway at the end of my post. And for today, all affiliate money earned on my blog will be donated to the fundraiser so I encourage you to shop using any of the links on my sidebar!
Lea created a moodboard based on the inspiration behind Layton’s nursery and this is what I used to inspire my card today.
There’s nothing I love better than woodland critters and when I saw this sentiment from the Hello Bluebird Woodland Littles set I knew it would be perfect for this card. I started by stamping my critters onto copic-friendly cardstock with intense black ink and coloring them with copics. Then I used the coordinating dies to die-cut the trio and then added a few accents with a white gel pen and a black glaze pen.
Then I used a variety of dies from different companies to create the backdrop for my card. I started by die-cutting the chevron patterned paper from My Favorite Things with a stitched rectangle die to create my base. Then I die-cut the Snow-Capped Mountains from Mama Elephant from dark grey and white cardstock. I die-cut a lemon yellow scalloped frame using a set from Pretty Pink Posh and adhered the mountains behind the frame. I stamped the sentiment from Hello Bluebird’s Woodland Littles onto the mountains with versamark and heat-embossed it with white embossing powder. I adhered that to the chevron base and then added my critters with a mix of regular adhesive and foam mounting tape. Finally I die-cut three hearts from a Lawn Fawn set, adhered them to my card and added a layer of spectrum noir clear sparkle and nuvo crystal glaze to finish the card. Just a tiny bit of sparkle and shine really helps this card pop.
Many companies have come together to sponsor this wonderful event. As I mentioned earlier every $5 donation to the fundraiser page will give you an entry into the prize drawing! Prizes will be drawn on May 19th. You can find all the details on Lea’s blog.
I also have a small giveaway for this hop. I am giving away an extra Woodland Littles stamp set from Hello Bluebird. To enter the giveaway share this event on any social media platform you’d like or create a card for the card drive and comment to let me know you’ve made one! I’ll also pull a winner on May 19th! Many thanks to Hello Bluebird for sponsoring my giveaway!
Here are all the stops on the hop for more inspiration for this card drive! Several stops on the hop are also offering personal giveaways so I encourage you to visit:
