As I said in my earlier post, the lights are all ordered and on their way. Here’s a line-up of what we’ve got planned for the new house:
1 Foyer – West Elm Capiz Chandelier
2 Craft Room/Office – Nuvo Lighting Margaux
3 Master Bathroom – Elk Lighting Elysburg Collection
4 Kitchen Island – Elk Lighting Spun Aluminum Pendant
5 Mudroom – Shades of Light Moravian Star Pendant
6 Bathroom – Elk Lighting Elysburg Collection
7 Dining Room – Elk Lighting Elysburg Collection
8 Hallways – Metropolitan Square
9 Exterior Lights – Progress Lighting Aluminum Squares
The only light that I’m still considering changing is the island pendant. I’ve actually purchased one in the Elysburg collection that would match the dining room and bathroom lights. I can’t decide from online photos which one I prefer so I’ll wait and make my final decision when they both arrive.
We’ve also got recessed lighting in the living room, kitchen, and music room. Steve and I also picked up some basic overhead lights from Lowe’s for the other bedrooms that can always be updated at a later date. The last thing I need to select is the master bedroom ceiling fan and any light or light kit that would go with it. However, it’s really hard to find a ceiling fan that doesn’t have ‘boob lights’…you know, these ones:
I hate those lights…and am determined to not have them ANYWHERE in the new house. And as we started this house-building process I was incredibly relieved to find that I’m apparently not the only person who calls them ‘boob lights’. It seems there are legions out there who scorn these lights and actually have some pretty ingenious DIY fixes….however, most wouldn’t work with a ceiling fan. So now the hunt is on for a boob-free ceiling fan! Wish me luck!
