Good morning! It’s time for a new Lawn Fawnatics challenge and it’s one of my favorites!! I can’t wait to see how it will inspire you! 🙂
If you’re a regular blog visitor of mine you’ll know that I love my ink blended backgrounds…so I couldn’t wait for this challenge!! I decided to experiment with different colors to create a new (to me) blend and I really love how it turned out!!
To start I blended worn lipstick, abandoned coral, seedless preserves, chipped sapphire, and black soot distress oxide ink onto a panel of strathmore bristol cardstock to create a smooth blend. I splattered the panel with water mixed with Lawn Fawn Liquid Stardust and let it dry. Then I splattered it with white gouache to create even more stars.
Next I die-cut the Cattails Border twice from black cardstock and the pond from Bayou Backdrop with black glitter cardstock. I also die-cut the Bayou Backdrop with black cardstock and trimmed off the stitched edge. I stamped the sentiment from Swan Soiree onto one of the borders and heat-embossed it with silver embossing powder. Then I stamped the swans and water lilies from Swan Soiree onto white cardstock and colored them with copic markers. Dark colors and shadings are not my strong suit so I reached out to my super talented friend Alberto for some tips on using darker colors and I’m so happy with how my swans turned out! They’re not perfect but I’m definitely inspired to continue pushing myself! And big BIG thanks to the fabulous Alberto for his guidance! If you don’t follow his blog or instagram you’re definitely missing out!!
After I finished coloring I fussy cut the images and pieced my scene together. I used liquid and regular adhesive for most of the images and then used foam mounting tape for the sentiment layer. I finished the card by adding a few accents with the glitter pen to the water lilies and a few extra sparkly stars in the sky!
And now it’s your turn! I can’t wait to see what you create!! You can link up your entries on the Lawn Fawnatics blog! Thanks so much for visiting and have a fantastic day!
