This week the Chibitronics design team is collaborating with one of my favorite stamp companies, Lawn Fawn, and I was super excited to create a card using both companies! I didn’t have time to do a video tutorial for this card but you can find a similar video tutorial here with detailed instructions on how to build a circuit with Chibitronics LED lights!
So here’s what I came up with!
When the recipient receives the card they’ll pull that little tab out on the bottom corner of the card and it will look like this:
I love how the little candle lights up! 🙂
So to create my card I stamped the candle onto a piece of white cardstock. Then I masked the bottom of the candle and stamped the cupcake around it. Then I masked the bottom of the cupcake and stamped the cake stand around it. 😉 I removed the masks and colored the cupcake and stand with copic markers. To complete the cupcake, I added a little spectrum noir sparkle to the frosting of the cupcake. Next I stamped the sentiment and added a little pink heart. I die-cut the sentiment with a stitched fishtail banner die, die-cut the cupcake with a stitched square die, and die-cut the patterned plaid paper to fit an A2 sized card. Finally, I adhered the images together with my ATG gun.
Then it was time to work on my circuit! I punched a tiny hole on the candle flame and then lined up a slightly smaller piece of cardstock behind the plaid panel and used a pencil to mark the location of the hole. I created my circuit on the smaller piece of cardstock and then used foam mounting tape to adhere the plaid panel to my circuit. I intentionally did not adhere the battery to the copper tape on one side so that I could turn off the circuit by sliding a small piece of paper in between the battery and the tape. Most of the time I create lighted cards that must be manually pressed to complete the circuit but I decided it would be fun to create a card that will stay lit until the battery dies (and the batteries last several days!). Here’s a closer look at my candle:
I hope this gives you some fun ideas on how to incorporate LED lights into your cards! Head over to the Chibitronics blog and to the Lawn Fawn blog to see what the other ladies have created and to enter the giveaways! Thanks so much for visiting and have a fabulous day!
