Good morning! If you’re looking for my post for The Ton Stamps please scroll down or click here! And if you missed it, head over to my Favorite Cards of 2015 and comment for a chance to win $25 to Butterfly Reflections Ink!
So I’ve got some exciting news…as you may have heard the Lawnscaping Facebook Inspiration Team was discontinued at the end of 2015 which was super sad…BUT I received an invitation from Laurel Beard to join the Lawnscaping Challenge team! I couldn’t say yes fast enough and here I am with my first official Lawnscaping Challenge!! 😉
Challenge #121, sponsored by Ellen Hutson, is to create a winter-themed project! One lucky winner will win a $25 gift certificate to Ellen Hutson!
I was really excited about this challenge theme because I am desperately missing SNOW! Living in Virginia, there’s no guarantee of a snowy winter but we usually get a few inches and one or two good storms. This year…we’ve barely gone below freezing and it was in the 70s for Christmas. I am a cold weather gal and I am most definitely in snow withdrawal. So my goal was to create a card that would remind me of what winter is supposed to be! 😉
If you read my first post today you know that I was also in shaker card withdrawal so I made another shaker card for today’s challenge! I started off by stamping the birch trees from Joy to the Woods and used generation stamping and various shades of copic markers to create a little depth and shading in my birch forest. Then I stamped snowflakes from several Lawn Fawn sets onto vellum with versamark and heat-embossed them with white embossing powder. I adhered the vellum panel to the birch tree panel and then die-cut a stitched frame for my shaker element. I adhered a piece of acetate to the back of the frame and filled the shaker with sparkly clear seed beads, metallic silver, and sparkling clear sequins in various sizes.
Next I stamped the hedgehogs and colored them with copic markers before fussy-cutting them. I cut several snowbanks from white cardstock and vellum and then layered them on top of the shaker frame. I stamped and heat-embossed the sentiment on the top layer of cardstock and tucked my hedgehogs into the snow to complete my card!
Thanks so much for visiting! For more information on how to join the challenge and additional inspiration from the rest of the design team check out the Lawnscaping blog!
