Good morning! Today I am SUPER excited to be an MFT Friend for the very first time and help them celebrate their September 2019 release! 🙂 I created a slimline gift card holder using the cute critters from Sweater Weather in the Woods and the Knitted Sweater background stamp along with some older MFT products!
I’ll admit, when I first saw these sweater-wearing forest critters I immediately thought of my dad because I’m pretty sure he has that exact sweater the moose is wearing (ha!). So I decided to make a masculine birthday card which is also perfect since his birthday is later this fall! 😉 To start I stamped the bear and moose with versafine and colored them with copics before die-cutting them with the coordinating dies. I used the following copic markers:
- Moose: E21, E23, E25, E27, 29, T7, T9, E70, E71, E74, R00, R20
- Bear: E70, E71, E74, E77, E79, T7, T9, R00, R20
- Sweaters: W00, W1, W3, B21, B23, B26, B29, R35, R37, R39
- Coffee Cups: E42, E44, R35, R37, R39
I also stamped the sentiment from Sweater Weather in the Woods onto black cardstock with versamark, heat-embossed it with white embossing powder, and trimmed it down to a thin label.
Next I used my MISTI to stamp the Knitted Sweater background stamp onto a piece of kraft cardstock twice. In order to get a seamless continuation of the pattern I stamped the edge of the stamp onto a panel of vellum and used that to help line up where my kraft paper should go. Then I trimmed the panel down to 7.5″ by 3.25″ and blended a little gathered twigs distress ink onto the edges of the panel. I die-cut the Gift Card Grooves from the inside of my card base and then adhered the kraft panel on top.
Then I die-cut the Birthday sentiment twice with blue cardstock and white cardstock. I used the die-cut negative as a guide for adhering the white cardstock and then adhered the blue on top of it with an offset shadow of the white cardstock. I couldn’t help but add a little sparkle to the card so I coated each letter in crystal glaze and sprinkled the bottom third of each letter with rock candy distress glitter. It’s sparkly without being too rainbow bright…perfect for a masculine card! Then I added accents with a white gel pen to my bear and moose and adhered them to the card with foam mounting tape. Once the glaze was dry I added the rest of the sentiment to finish the card!
And that’s it! 🙂 Head over to the MFT blog to find even more inspiration using the awesome September release! Thanks for stopping by and happy release day!! 🙂
