I created and shared this Christmas decorating party card earlier and today I’m also using watercolors but going in a slightly different direction! 😉
And because I’m apparently still a little crazy after my 30 day/30 video challenge I made a video that you can watch below or at my YouTube channel!
I really LOVE the iridescent ink included in this month’s kit and decided to pair it with the liquid watercolors for a super sparkly and shimmery background!
For my first card I added drops of deep ocean liquid watercolor mixed with iridescent watercolor ink to a palette and wet my background thoroughly with water. Then I added heavy color to the edges of the panel and then used a clean damp paintbrush to blend the colors to the center of the panel. I kept repeating this process, occasionally blotting off ink in the center to create my background. I dried the background and added a second layer with more deep ocean liquid watercolor. I also added black to the edges for even more contrast. Once it was totally dry I flicked it with white paint and silver paint to create a snowy sky.
Next I trimmed the panel down and stamped the sentiment from Peace, Love, and Joy in the center and heat-embossed it with white detail embossing powder. Then I stamped the bottom layer of my Stacking Snowflakes and heat-embossed them with white detail embossing powder. I stamped another snowflake layer on top of the first and heat-embossed them with silver sparkle embossing powder and repeated that process until the panel was covered with gorgeous sparkly snowflakes!
For my second card I used indigo, deep ocean, teal, purple, black, liquid watercolors mixed with iridescent watercolor ink. I wet my paper and then added splashes of color. After it dried I decided I wanted it to be even more shimmery so I added another layer of just iridescent watercolor ink slightly watered down. I let it dry and then flicked it with white paint. Once that was totally dry I stamped the sentiment from Merry and Bright Messages in the center and heat-embossed it with white detail embossing powder. This time I only stamped a single layer of snowflakes but I used white detail and silver sparkle embossing powder for a little extra contrast! Pretty simple cards that pack a big punch thanks to those vibrant watercolors and that sparkly ink! 😉
