I shared this card using the kit over on the Hero Arts blog this weekend:
Today I’m sharing a card using one of the add-on sets, Jellyfish Party Bold Prints and a new, to me, medium!
If you saw my countdown post on the Hero Arts blog you’ll know that I visited the Monterey Bay Aquarium last summer and one of my favorites exhibits were the gorgeous jellyfish! When I saw the jellyfish background stamp I was smitten!!
I absolutely love jellyfish…their iridescence, the way they move, the range of colors…I think they’re just beautiful. Though I’m pretty sure I would not want to run into them in the water! 😉 I decided to try two-blend watercoloring with my tombow markers to create this rainbow swarm of jellies! I started by stamping the Jellyfish Party Bold Prints with versamark on arches cold-press watercolor paper and heat-embossed it with gold glitter embossing powder. Then I took pale pink, green, purple, and blue tombow markers and added a variety of colors to the jellyfish centers and edges. Next I took a paintbrush and used water to blend the colors together. I repeated this across the entire panel and then added a wash using a grey marker and damp paintbrush. I love how the little bit of shading under the jellies gives a little dimension to the scene!
While the panel was drying I stamped the sentiment from the kit onto white cardstock and heat-embossed it with gold embossing powder. I trimmed it down to an angled label. Then I added spectrum noir clear sparkle and nuvo crystal glaze to some of the jellies and sprinkled them with chunky glitter. Once that dried I added the sentiment with foam mounting tape. Finally I added a few iridescent sequins to finish the card!
To celebrate the release Hero Arts is giving away one My Monthly Hero kit as a prize to one blog reader selected from the comments across all of the blogs in the hop so make sure you leave a comment at each hop stop for the most chances to win! If you win and have already purchased the kit you will be reimbursed! Please comment before 11:59PM EST on Sunday, March 11th! Here’s a list of all the stops on the hop:
