I shared this card using the My Monthly Hero kit on my blog this weekend:
And by popular demand, I have a video for that card that you can watch below or over at my YouTube channel.
Today I went in a slightly more irreverent and less peaceful direction with one of my cards:
The sentiment comes from one of my most favorite Hero sets: Killer Messages and I thought it would be perfect for this cheeky card. To start, I blended my background using Soft Vanilla, Butterbar, Soft Apricot, Pale Tomato, and Raspberry Jam for the sky and Aegean, Indigo, and Navy for the water. I used blending brushes for a softer effect. I stamped my sentiment with versafine and heat-embossed it with clear embossing powder.
Next I stamped the volcanoes from the kit with copic-friendly intense-ified black ink and colored them with copic markers. I fussy cut them and then went over the edges with a black copic marker. I freehand drew the erupting lava with copic markers and then used a dauber and a q-tip to add white pigment ink, soft granite, and charcoal ink to create ash and smoke. Finally I used a versamark pen to add ink around the smoke and heat-embossed it with white puff embossing powder. I adhered the volcanoes with foam mounting tape and added a white accents with a white gel pen to finish the card!
My second card uses some of the FANTASTIC add-ons! That water ripples background stamp NEEDS to be in your collection!
I stamped the Water Ripples background stamp using Soft Pool ink (don’t be fooled by the lid cover…it’s the most gorgeous aqua!) and trimmed it down to an A2 panel. Then I die-cut the Hibiscus Fancy die with white cardstock and gold glitter cardstock and colored it with copic markers.
I adhered them to the background panel using regular adhesive and foam mounting tape. I also curled up some of the flower petals for a little extra dimension. To finish the card I stamped the sentiment from the kit with embossing ink and heat-embossed it with gold embossing powder. I trimmed that down to an angled label and tucked it under the flowers!
And that’s it for me! Head over and pick up your February My Monthly Hero kit and add-ons today before it sells out!
