The challenge this week was Mason Jar Stamping! Luckily I recently purchased a big batch of mason jars for jar salad lunches and had a few leftover. I created this jar with the intention of filling it with cat snacks and giving it to a friend. Since cat snacks tend to be pretty smelly I’ll probably put the snacks in a separate bag inside the jar so that she doesn’t have to worry about washing the jar as I’m not sure how the stamping would hold up to washing.
Anyway, here it is!
I started by painting the jar with metallic pewter craft paint. I used three coats and let it dry about 30 minutes between coats. After the last coat I let it dry overnight. This morning I lightly sanded it with a sanding block to rough it up a bit. After making sure the paint chips were wiped off I lightly rubbed the jar with the EK Success powder tool to prevent stray embossing powder from sticking everywhere.
I used the paw prints from the PTI Cat’s Meow stamp set and embossed them with Hero Arts white embossing powder. The paw prints travel all around the jar. To complete the jar I cut a square of pawprint fabric to layer between the lid and the screw ring. Then I created a tag and used more stamps from the Cat’s Meow set. Finally I watercolored a piece of paper with peacock feathers, salty ocean, and seedless preserves distress ink and die cut the cat from the Cat’s Meow set. I stamped the cat with Memento tuxedo black ink and added a silver sparkly bow from the Mama Elephant No Peeking stamp set. Finally I added some ribbons of various widths and colors to match the fabric and dress up the jar!
