This week’s Papertrey Ink Make it Monday challenge was dry embossing over heat embossing. I’d never tried it before but it’s definitely a technique that I’ll continue to experiment with! I started off by stamping two butterflies from the PTI Beautiful Butterflies onto a piece of Neenah solar white cardstock using versamark ink. Then I heat embossed the butterflies with Wow embossing powder in metalline red. The color actually turns out as a very deep pink and I love it! I didn’t know whether or not the heated powder might stick to the embossing folder so I let the powder cool down first. Then I ran it through my newest crafting toy, the Sizzix Big Shot, and it created a beautiful dot pattern all over the piece of card front.
I finished off the card by wrapping a piece of silver thread around the card letting it flare out on one side. Then I die cut the ‘hello’ from the PTI Wet Paint Cuts set. I covered the word with versamark and then heat-embossed it with the same embossing powder. To get good coverage and a more raised effect I used three layers of embossing powder. Finally I attached the sentiment with foam mounting tape. I love the clean and simple effect!
