…I think we need a little more peace these days, don’t you? While I don’t think one little card will make a huge difference in the world, I hope my scene will bring a smile and some peace to you today.
I recently discovered stamps from The Greeting Farm and wow, do they have some cute critters! I am a huge sucker for anything foxes and this Cuddly Thanks stamp set had my name written all over it!
I started off by stamping my fox with copic-friendly Memento tuxedo black ink and then I masked him so I could stamp the stump. Unfortunately I wasn’t paying attention and instead of cutting a mask from masking paper, I cut a mask from stick-it adhesive….ha ha. NOT the same thing. So yeah, that one went in the trash and I repeated the process with actual masking paper! 😉 I cut a mask for my stump and also cut a mask for the ground. I laid those onto my card and then blended distress inks for the sky. I wasn’t really going for the most realistic looking sky today so I used shaded lilac, picked raspberry, and salty ocean distress inks. I also sprinkled water droplets over the cardstock to soften the sky.
Next I removed the masks and colored the fox and the stump with copic markers. I also used copic markers to add some shading and dimension to the snowy landscape. I decided I wanted to add a little more sparkle so I used pearlescent embossing paste with the Wave of Snowflakes stencil from Create A Smile. While the paste was still wet I sprinkled it with cool diamond glitter!
While that was drying I worked on the sentiment. I cut a tag from Mama Elephant’s Tags a Lot with pink cardstock and heat-embossed the sentiment from Papertrey Ink’s Tis the Seasons sentiment with silver embossing powder. Then I decided it needed to be sparklier…so I went over it with my clear wink of stella glitter brush and it ended up like this:
I put a little foam mounting tape behind the tag to adhere it to the card and then tied a little metallic silver twine around the card. I was in the mood for something colorful and sparkly and I think this card fits the bill! 😉
And a happy mail update…two more cards went out today!
