Good morning! It’s been awhile since I’ve played with my alcohol inks and decided to spend a little time with them yesterday! I’ve been wanting to try Jennifer’s smooth alcohol ink technique for awhile now and thought it’d be perfect for today’s card!
I’ve been very inspired by Jeff Lindberg’s #craftcocktails series this month and wanted to join in before June was over! I didn’t quite have the supplies that Jennifer used in her cards but was able to find things in my craft room that worked! First I took a cutting plate from an old mini die-cutting machine and wrapped a smooth Viva paper towel that I had folded several times around one edge. I used purple tape to hold the paper towels in place and then added a good amount of blending solution to the edge on the paper towel. Next I added a drop of the following alcohol inks to the edge keeping them close together: flamingo, watermelon, valencia, sunshine yellow, clover, indigo, and wild plum. Then I held the end of the cutting plate and dragged it across a panel of yupo paper. I dragged it both directions allowing the colors to blend together. Then I let the panel dry. The layer of alcohol blending solution really kept the plate pretty clean but just to be on the safe side I rubbed a bit of isopropyl alcohol over the end of the plate with a clean paper towel to make sure I got any excess ink off!
While the panel was drying I die-cut the Hey die from The Stamp Market from white and black cardstock and adhered them together with liquid adhesive. Next I die-cut a few hearts from a Lawn Fawn die set and colored them with copic markers in R35, R37, and R39. I also added a few accents with a white gel pen. Once the panel was totally dry I trimmed it down, adhered it to a card base, and adhered the sentiment and hearts. To finish the card I added a layer of spectrum noir clear sparkle and nuvo crystal glaze to each heart! 🙂 I love the combination soft rainbow with the bold and vibrant sentiment and I hope you do, too!
Thanks so much for stopping by and have a fantastic weekend!
